What are cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of data that save information on your computer when you visit websites so that you don’t have to re-enter it upon your return. For example, cookies help websites remember that you want your search results in English and help online stores remember the items saved in your shopping cart. Advertisers also use cookies to help them deliver adverts that are more relevant to you.
I don’t spend my life firing cookies at you I promise! But almost every website you visit will use them in some form or another and this one is no exception. And because they are used by service providers, web hosting providers, website software, advertisers, and any or all of the external links you might find on this site, it’s better to assume they’re present!
Who am I?
The Secrets of Their Success is a blog administrated by me, Matt Kruze. It features as its main content interviews with personalities from various backgrounds. The content may feature additional information if I consider it to be interesting or useful to my readers, and this could range from interviews with personalities from other backgrounds or information on travel, equipment, clothing and more.

What personal data I collect and why I collect it
In order to help protect The Secrets of Their Success from attack, I use software designed to identify and prevent breaches. This software collects IP addresses from visitors who have attempted to log in to the site. Since the site has only one administrator, there is no reason for any individual to attempt to log in, but should such an attempt be made, the IP address and broad geographical location are logged and recorded.
Email addresses are only collected for those visitors wishing to sign up to my mailing list and of course for guest contacts. These may be stored for the following reasons: 1.) To keep those readers who have requested information updated with the latest publications or relevant information and 2.) To retain communications with guests.
In both cases, if you wish to have your email address removed from my contact list please just ask at [email protected]. In addition, if you have subscribed to my mailing list, this will be handled by a mailing list service with their own privacy policy. Please note that I am not responsible for external privacy policies and you should familiarise yourself with them but as a responsible supplier of information, I would always strive to ensure any software/service providers I use to improve the running of this site are reputable.
This may sound obvious but as a reader, if you subscribe to a mailing list, I assume you want to receive information until you say otherwise!
I do not collect physical addresses from readers, nor personal details relating to health. I do not collect payment information from readers.
Although I do not collect personal data such as, but not limited to, browsing preferences, some cookies may do so.
Most importantly though any date that comes from you is yours, and you have the right to say what is done with it. While I do not have any data gathering contact forms on this site, you are entitled by law to request any information that may be held about you. In which case simply email me at [email protected] and I can confirm what, if any, data is held. You then have the right to say, ‘Oh okay, that’s fine’ or else, ‘Hm, you know what, delete that please.’ In the second instance I will confirm that action has been taken.
Cookies
As described above, cookies are small pieces of data that are downloaded to your computer or device when you visit a website or application. They can be used to remember details such as sign-in/log-in information and on some sites to help populate contact forms. They also help monitor traffic and identify which pages/URLs are being visited. Although some cookies can be harmful, for the most part they help to make your browsing experience a happier one!
The EU’s GDPR law states that websites must gain permission from each visitor to enable cookies, and you will see this the first time you visit The Secrets of Their Success. Previous laws required a website to say something like, ‘We use cookies and since you’ve dropped by we’re just going to assume you’re happy with that.’ Since the advent of the EU’s GDPR law, that is no longer acceptable. The difference now is that upon first visit to a site (or everafter if you clear your browser regularly) you will have to click the acceptance button before the website is allowed to send cookies to your computer or device. In other words a site cannot assume consent by default. In addition to this notification though, all computers can be set by the user to adjust cookie settings. Such options include allowing you to set your browser to warn when a cookie is installed and to enable, disable and delete cookies. You should bear in mind that some sites don’t function as well if cookies are disabled.

I do not share personal information with anyone but should you click on a link to one of my affiliate marketing sites, their own privacy policies apply, not mine. Please take the time to read and understand them. As stated previously, I don’t collect personal information on this site other than your email address and a contact name if you choose to sign up to my mailing list.
